Indigenous Graphic/Web Designer Wanted

Dreamtime Public Relations Pty Ltd is seeking to employ an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person in the position of trainee graphic/web designer. Dreamtime will provide the appropriate tertiary and on-the-job training. Creative Services Manager, Toby Dodd (Ngarrindjeri/Narungga/Kaurna) who commenced with the company over six years ago as a school leaver in a trainee position, won a national award two years ago, and will mentor the successful candidate.

Position Location
Adelaide / West Beach

Qualifications
Year 12 Completion
Tertiary qualifications in graphic/web design desirable but not required

Skills
High level of computer skills
Typing speed – 60 wpm minimum
Experience in graphic/web design whether on-the-job or personal interest
Ability to work in both IBM and Macintosh environments
Experience/interest in website infrastructure

Attributes
Willingness to learn and undertake accredited training
Ability to work as part of a team
Attention to detail
Desire to succeed

Knowledge
Knowledge of the difference between Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander clan groups
Understanding of the importance of culturally appropriate communications

Requirements
Draw Indigenous illustrations and convert to vector art, both generic background style and people (cartoons)
Draw generic Indigenous illustrations for national campaigns and clan-group/state specific for regional campaigns
Design websites and develop using Dreamtime’s development and content management system
Design a range of print publications including brochures, posters, banners, reports etc.
