Dreamtime Public Relations has taken out Small Business Champion SA (Business Services) again this year after winning the award in 2008.
Managing Director Janet Craig said the team is thrilled by the win having achieved all its objectives in the last 12 months including changing the company name from 7C Communications Group to Dreamtime Public Relations Pty Ltd and employing more Aboriginal people. 7C Communications and WebeZ remain separate brands of the company.
Tahnee Edwards is the newest member of the team, a Yorta Yorta woman with an Honours Degree in Visual Communications. Her father is Talgium Edwards.
Since 2002, Dreamtime has provided work opportunities to over 10 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, the key reason for the company’s establishment. In 2008, Dreamtime’s Web Designer Toby Dodd, of Ngarrindjeri/Narungga/Kaurna descent, capitalised on his training and development, winning a national award for logo design. Toby is now undertaking FaHCSIA’s Indigenous Leadership Program as part of the company’s succession plan.
Over the last few years, Dreamtime has cemented its position as one of Australia’s leading Indigenous visual communications agencies, winning other awards including the National Drug & Alcohol Award (Design) 2008 and NAIDOC Business of the Year 2003. Dreamtime is also a nominee for the Diversity@Work National Awards 2009.
This year, Dreamtime also became a Registered Consultancy Group with the Public Relations Institute of Australia, a Member of the Australian Web Industry Association, and was awarded a position on several government panels.
Dubbed the ‘Oscars’ for Australia’s small business sector, the Australian Small Business Champion Awards is the only national program of its kind to recognise achievements and honour great performance in small business. Judges evaluate submissions based on all aspects of a winning business including business strategies, customer service, vision, support of the local community and growth, to name a few. The awards are presented by Precedent Productions and sponsored by the Commonwealth Bank.
Mr Steve Loe, Managing Director of Precedent Productions said, “One of the aims of the Small Business Champion Awards is to encourage excellence. The Small Business Champion Awards is a celebration of small business and its contribution to the Australian way of life … It’s not always about money. There are many small business owners who will never be millionaires, but whose contribution is invaluable.”
Dreamtime will compete against other state winners for the national Small Business Champion Award (Business Services) on 14 November in Sydney.
The Dreamtime team provides a complete print and online culturally appropriate visual communications service including document and website reviews, strategy planning, public & media relations, copywriting, illustration, graphic design, website development, and promotional merchandise.
